Chris had some awesome players on this album. Guys that played on old Motown hits and guys that are making music with the likes of contemporary artists Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban.
As is the norm for most musicians, there isn't a lot of info on the 'net about keyboardist Steve King (Keith Urban), Hammond organist Bradley Smith or the female background singers Angela Pimm and Gail West. However -- these guys rock on "Bag of Emotions".
Bob Babbitt, born Robert Kreiner in Pittsburgh, PA, has earned 25 Gold and Platinum records playing electric bass on over 200 Top 40 hits, not including all the Motown hits he worked on (Motown didn't award Gold records!). He was classically trained on the upright bass, and even performed on it at local nightclubs as a teenager. A few years later, he switched to the electric bass and has a long and distinguished career playing in the recording studios of Detroit, New York and Nashville. He has also toured the world with Joan Baez and Brenda Lee. A little bit of internet research also turned up that Bob also wrote the music for three albums done by Tim Curry (of Rocky Horror fame). Head over to our "Other Places" page and find the link to Bob's website -- it is full of his own stories about his music career and is quite entertaining.
Ed Greene played drums on "Bag of Emotions". He is known as the "Greene Machine" for his unbelievably solid timing -- he IS a human drum machine! He played drums for Marvin Gaye at the tender age of 19 and has also appeared on recordings from Barry White, Frank Sinatra, Hall and Oates and Steely Dan. You can find more info on Ed on our "Other Places" page!
"Bag of Emotions" has a gritty sound and the magic of Steve Herrman's trumpeting plays a part. Steve is on tour with Kenny Chesney this year on his Pirates and Poets tour, having also toured with Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton and Waylon Jennings. If you'd like to hear a solo of Steve on the trumpet, please visit out "Other Places" page!
